Preventing Baldness
Baldness involves the state of lacking hair where
it often grows, especially on the head. It is easier to prevent
the apparent 'aging' and falling out of healthy hairs than
to regrow hair in follicles that are already dormant. There
are products to treat baldness that have good success rates
with regrowth, including the scientifically proven finasteride
(marketed in the U.S. as Propecia)
and minoxidil (marketed in the U.S. as Rogaine, and outside
the U.S. as Regaine). Stress reduction can be helpful in slowing
hair loss.
How to Treat Baldness?
More than half of men are affected by male pattern baldness
by age 50. The success of treatments depend upon several
factors. The most important of these factors is a man's age,
how much hair is missing and how complete a remedy he envisions.
The more hair lost, the less successful the treatment will
be.
The latest and most convenient treatment is finasteride (Propecia),
the first baldness treatment that comes in pill form. Originally
used at a higher dose to treat prostate
enlargement under the name Proscar (5mg of Finasteride),
Finasteride in 1mg dose can often stop or even reverse hair
loss in most people. Studies have shown that 80% of men
using Propecia stopped or even reversed their hair loss to
some degree.
Most hair loss sufferers should consider using a proven hair
loss drug like Propecia, whether they do hair transplantation
or not.
